Notley Tythe Barn Wedding Photographer

Vicky and Josh’s Wedding at Notley Tythe Barn, Buckinghamshire

The best thing about being a Buckinghamshire wedding photographer is getting to work with lovely couples like Vicky and Josh and returning to be a Notley Tythe Barn wedding photographer.  These two chose the perfect venue for their winter wedding.  But I’ll back to all the reasons why I love being a Notley Tythe Barn wedding photographer later, let’s start at the beginning of Vicky and Josh’s Day.

I first met this pair when I photographed Vicky’s twin sister Sophie’s wedding so it felt like catching up with friends.  I get a lot of my bookings through recommendations as families choose me to document the important moments in their lives.  It’s always a real honour.

On the day, I caught up with Vicky who was getting ready at nearby Spread Eagle Hotel in Thame.  She was in good spirits with her bridal party and in the safe hands of her hair stylist from Bridal Hair Design and make-up artist Bridal Make-up by Juliet

Josh was also getting ready at the hotel, so I popped in to see him too.  He was with his best man and making his final preparations for the day.  I got a couple of good images of them.  Josh looked very smart a grey suit with a tweed waistcoat and red tie.

I then re-joined the girls who were in high-spirits and almost ready to go.  Vicky looked amazing in her Wendy Makin dress, it was from her French collection and was called Opera.  Vicky bought it at Anna McDonald Bridal in Thame.  It had a lovely v neckline with layers of beautiful floaty skirt A line skirt.  It suited Vicky so well that it looked like it had been made for her.  With her gorgeous timeless hair and make-up, Vicky had a fantastic look of old-fashioned glamour that was perfect for a winter wedding.  Bridesmaids by now were out of their co-ordinated robes and looking resplendent in cerise velvet dresses.  I do love the colours at winter weddings.  You get to be so much bolder.

There was time for a little bubbly and a lovely father seeing the bride moment before heading off to the ceremony in a gorgeous vintage Bramworth Landaulette car called Rosie, hired from MC Wedding Cars

Now I want to mention the flowers, as the bouquets were stunning and the clever creation of the team at Apple Blossom Flowers.

Yay! Now I get to talk more about why I love returning to be a Notley Tythe Barn wedding photographer.  Notley Tythe Barn is nestled in the picturesque fold in the Chiltern Hills on the borders of Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.  This 12th century barn has been lovingly restored and reimagined as a premier wedding venue.  Its beamed roof is adorned with fairy lights, its walls and gallery whitewashed to allow the light to bounce of the walls and give us Buckinghamshire wedding photographers better light to play with in our images.  It manages to be both elegant and rustic and the talented team at Notley Tythe Barn create beautiful bespoke weddings for every couple they work with.  Vicky and Josh’s wedding couldn’t have been in safer hands!

It’s always nice to work with other professionals in the wedding industry and this was certainly the case at Vicky and Josh’s wedding when we worked with Diamond Films who created their wedding videography.

Storytelling wedding photography at Notley Tythe Barn

The wedding ceremony was just lovely with the excited guests all seated waiting for the bridal party.  The ceremony took place at the front and the image of Vicky and Josh saying their vows with their guests and the twinkling lights of the fairy-lit barn in the background added to the rustic and cosy feel of the venue.

Afterwards, as the weather was mild but overcast, everybody was able to enjoy a drinks and canapes reception outside in the courtyard and the youngest guests got the chance to have a run about.

With everybody happily mingling and enjoying refreshments, I took my chance to get some great group images of everybody and of the wedding party.  I also quickly whisked Vicky and Josh away for a few minutes for a mini photoshoot.  The image of them walking with the barn and farm behind them is my favourite of the day.  Here, take a look!

Vicky and Josh arrived back to be rapturously received to their wedding reception. Speeches were before the food which is always a good idea and were wonderful.  As a busy Buckinghamshire wedding photographer, I have sat through hundreds of speeches and can honestly say these were amongst the best I’ve heard.  They were given by Vicky’s dad Andy, by Josh and by the two best men Josh’s brothers Adam and Oliver.

There followed a sumptuous wedding breakfast which went down a storm by with everyone.  I must mention the cake, it was a naked cake so looked delicious and had a lego bride and groom on it which made my day.  It was the cleverly created by Emma from Cakes and Bakes by Emma.

Evening celebrations started with a fun sparkler serenade.  I love sparklers, especially at winter weddings.  It gets dark so early so adds a fun element that everybody can get involved with.  Sparklers also make for great images.  Here, take a look!

This was followed by the cutting of that gorgeous cake and a romantic first dance.  Vicky and Josh’s guests were so much fun and definitely up for a party.  It wasn’t long before everybody was up on their feet and I got some really fun dancefloor images.

Before taking my leave, I quickly whisked Vicky and Josh outside to get a lovely image of them in front of the Barn all lit up.  It was a great image and the perfect one to close the story of their amazing wedding day.

A fun wedding full of love and laughter for this lovely couple.  Congratulations to Vicky and Josh for getting married and creating such an amazing wedding day for yourselves.  I hope my images will allow you to relive it again and again for many years to come.

I’ll leave the last words to Vicky and Josh.  Here’s what they had to say about me.

“Alex was absolutely brilliant. We knew Alex’s work previously as my wife’s sister had him as her wedding photographer so we knew we were in safe hands. Alex was amazing, from our pre wedding shoot to our big day! The photos are so beautiful and we can’t thank Alex enough for creating these wonderful pictures to treasure for ever. Alex’s presence on the day was superb and he felt like one of our guests, making everyone feel at ease. We waited a long time for this day to come, and we are so very happy to have chosen Alex to document our day. We will always look back through our photos and remember the fantastic day we shared with friends and family. Thank you for everything Alex. We would highly recommend using Alex as your photographer for your special day- you will not be disappointed!
