Sussex Wedding Photographer
Hi, I’m Alex, a creative, award-winning wedding and engagement photographer based in Eastbourne and covering weddings across East Sussex and West Sussex.
Planning a wedding in Sussex? You’re in the right place. My style is relaxed, emotional, and storytelling, capturing all the laughter, tears, and those fleeting moments that make your day unforgettable.
From the rolling hills of the South Downs and their famous chalk cliffs to the picturesque coastline and historic towns like Brighton, Lewes, Rye and Arundel, Sussex offers some of the most incredible backdrops for wedding photography. Add in vibrant Brighton and the cathedral city of Chichester and you’ve got endless options for a truly unique celebration.
Are You Searching For An Experienced Sussex Wedding Photographer?
Firstly, congratulations on your engagement. Choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Your photographer is with you all day, from morning prep through to the dance floor, so you need someone you trust and feel completely comfortable with.
If you’re looking for a photographer who blends into your day, captures natural, unscripted moments, and also creates striking portraits you’ll be proud to display, I’d love to help.

What You’re Looking For
Photography that reflects the real emotions of your day. Nothing stiff or staged.
Choosing a photographer can feel overwhelming. Look for images that make you feel something and a person you feel comfortable with. We spend a lot of time together on the day, so the fit matters.
No disappearing for hours to find photo spots. I already know them. More time with your people while I capture the magic.
I blend in like a guest and notice the quiet in-between moments. The laughter, the glances, the hand squeezes. All recorded without getting in the way.

Ready to talk about your wedding? My Approach To Capturing Sussex Weddings
Every wedding is different, but my approach is always the same: relaxed, unobtrusive, and focused on storytelling. Here’s how I capture the different parts of your Sussex wedding day.

The Morning Buzz
I start early, photographing the build-up with your favourite people — the laughter, nerves, and little details that set the tone. Whether you’re getting ready in a cosy East Sussex cottage or a stylish hotel in West Sussex, these moments are always full of emotion.

The Big “I Do”
Sussex has so many stunning ceremony settings, from historic castles to elegant manors and coastal gardens. During the vows, I work quietly so you stay fully present while I capture every tear, smile and meaningful glance.

Candid Moments of Happiness!
I’m always on the lookout for unscripted moments: confetti flying, kids playing, hugs with family, and the in-between moments you might miss. These are the photographs that tell the real story of your wedding day.

Creative Portraits
My style is a mix of documentary, portrait and reportage, which means you’ll get a blend of genuine candids and striking portraits. I’ll guide you just enough to make sure you feel comfortable, but never pose you stiffly. Think of it as a chance to spend some quiet time together while I capture beautiful images in natural Sussex backdrops.

Dancing the Night Away
Once the evening gets going, I’ll be right there on the dance floor. From your first dance through to guests letting loose, I make sure the fun and energy of your reception is part of your story.

Second Photographer Option
Want even more angles and coverage? I can bring along a second photographer from my trusted network. This means while I’m with you, my second can capture the groom’s preparations, guests arriving, and candid moments happening elsewhere. It’s a brilliant way to ensure not a single detail is missed.

Wedding Photography Reviews From Couples
Sussex Venues I Love Working At
Over the years I’ve had the privilege of photographing weddings at some of Sussex’s most beautiful venues. Each has its own character and offers unique backdrops for timeless photography. Here are a few favourites:
- Highley Manor, near Balcombe – A classic countryside setting with historic charm and stunning gardens, perfect for romantic outdoor portraits.
- The Ravenswood, Sharpthorne – Lakeside grounds, woodland paths, and a castle backdrop make this a truly magical venue in the heart of Sussex.
- Brookfield Barn, Horsham – A modern barn with waterside views and sweeping countryside, ideal for relaxed celebrations with plenty of space for guests.
- Gildredge Manor, Eastbourne – A Georgian manor house with elegant interiors and gardens, combining sophistication with a relaxed, personal feel.
- The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne – An iconic seaside landmark offering timeless elegance and luxury, with dramatic coastal backdrops just steps away.
- Michelham Priory, Upper Dicker – A phenomenal barn and historic setting surrounded by a medieval moat and tranquil gardens, perfect for atmospheric storytelling.
Each Sussex venue has its own story, and no matter which one you choose, I’ll ensure your wedding day is documented with creativity and care.
Real weddings in Sussex
Below are a few examples of real weddings I have had the pleasure of capturing within Surrey.
Wondering About The Details?
What if it rains?
No worries, it happens. Sussex is blessed with some of the sunniest weather in the UK, but even if the rain makes an appearance, it never ruins a wedding. Many Sussex venues, from rustic barns to historic manor houses, have beautiful indoor spaces that work perfectly for photography. And if you’re up for it, a few dramatic rainy shots on the South Downs or by the coast can look incredible.
What time will you arrive on the wedding day?
I usually arrive a couple of hours before the ceremony to capture the atmosphere of the morning — from bridal prep and family moments to the details you’ve carefully chosen.
Can you help us plan the timeline for photos?
Absolutely. Having photographed over 200 weddings, I know how to create a flow that balances beautiful photography with plenty of time to enjoy your guests. In Sussex, that might mean making the most of golden hour in the Downs or squeezing in a few relaxed seaside portraits at Brighton or Eastbourne before the party kicks off.
Do you offer coverage of the evening party?
Yes, I’ll stay into the evening to capture everything from your first dance to the wild shapes on the dance floor. These photos are often some of the most fun and bring your gallery to life.
We’re not very photogenic or comfortable in front of the camera, can you help?
Absolutely, and you’re not alone. Most couples tell me this at first. My style is natural and relaxed, so you’ll never feel forced into stiff poses. I’ll give you just enough direction to feel comfortable, then let genuine moments unfold. By the end of the day, you’ll feel completely at ease.
Do you cover both East and West Sussex?
Definitely. I’ve photographed weddings at many of Sussex’s top venues including Brookfield Barn, The Ravenswood, Gildredge Manor, and Highley Manor. I’m always happy to share insights on venues that might suit your style and vision.
