Best of 2023

best of 2023 | photos Alex Buckland Photography

2023 was an extraordinary year for some truly epic weddings. I had the privilege of capturing some of the most heartfelt and stunning moments that will forever be cherished by my amazing couples. Each wedding was a unique tapestry of love, showcasing a kaleidoscope of emotions that ranged from the joyful tears of first looks to the exuberant laughter through some hilarious speeches. This year offered a plethora of awe-inspiring venues, trend-setting decorations, and unforgettable love stories that highlighted not just the beauty of the events, but the profound connections shared between couples, their families, and friends.

What an absolute belter of a year it was! Once again, my biggest year in business and I can honestly say my most memorable to date! So in true fashion as years before, lets begin with the numbers!

2023 was quite the year for me little business! All starting in January with a weekend up in Glasgow, Scotland capturing Christianna and Ryan’s wedding day. With a little bit of a break unitl March, I had the opportunity to get away for a week of skiing. Unfortunately, disaster struck-I broke my collarbone! Having skiied for many years, plus within the military at a competitive level, this is the first time I have ever broken anything. With 2 weddings booked in over the next month, I had 2 photographers who absolutely stepped up and supported me by covering these for me, so a big shout out to Martin Cheung and Matt Trott for being absolute legends!

Again I travelled throughout the country which included Wiltshire, Surrey, Hampshire, Kent, Sussex, Dorset, Berkshire, Essex, Cornwall, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Scotland and London!

It’s been such a cool experience getting to know every couple I met this year, and each one has given me some fantastic memories. I absolutely loved capturing the happiest day of their lives! The smiles and laughter in those photos were just contagious – they remind me every day why I’m so into this job. We had everything: chill bridal prep, cozy ceremonies, wild confetti moments, laid-back receptions, heartfelt speeches, and, oh man, those dance floor moves were something else! Being a part of it all was just awesome.

Taking photos at weddings is such a cool gig, and I’m really grateful every time a couple picks me for their big day. A big thanks to all of you from the heart! I really hope you’re over the moon with your photos and that they become treasures for years to come. I feel super lucky to have been the one to capture those moments for you!

First things first, a massive shoutout to my wife, Catherine. She’s my rock, always there to back me up and dealing with all those late-night editing sessions. And then there’s my two awesome kids, Aiden and Caitlin – they’re the reason I smile so big when I get back home every day!

Big props to my buddy Paul from Burton Media. We’ve teamed up at a bunch of weddings this year, rocking it as my go-to videographer. We’re definitely the #dreamteam, and you’re one of my best pals in this whole industry.
