Horsley Towers Military wedding

Ella and Cam's summer military wedding at Horsley Towers in Surrey

A Surrey Military Wedding

Set in acres of beautiful Surrey parkland, De Vere Horsley Towers Estate is a stunning 19th century manor house that is rich in history and character, making it a real favourite with Surrey wedding photographers. Ella and Cam chose the perfect venue for their summer military wedding.

I love capturing military wedding photography. As a professional photographer who has served 20 years in the army, getting booked to shoot military wedding photography is a chance for me to combine my two loves.

Photographs of Ella and Cam’s wedding day

On the day, I got there early and caught up with Ella, who was getting ready in the De Vere Suite. The epitome of luxury, the suite features a super king-size bed, separate lounge area and a bathroom with a roll top bath and amazing views across the sprawling grounds of the estate. Most importantly, it is equipped with all the modern conveniences making it the ideal place for bridal preparations.

Ella was on great form and had her bridesmaids and her mum with her, along with hair stylist Katya and make-up artist JoJo.

I also got a chance to catch up with Cam and his grooms party in another room in the hotel. All of whom were in good spirits and looked resplendent in full military uniform.

Ella looked amazing in an elegant vintage lace dress with a ballgown shape skirt that gave her a fairy-tale bride look that really suited the grandeur of the venue. Her bridesmaids looked great in their dresses that had a blue sequin top with elegantly layered navy skirts.

The wedding ceremony was held in the Great Hall and Ella’s arrival was announced with Military Trumpeters. The Great Hall has vaulted ceilings and oak-panelled walls that make it a fantastic space for an atmospheric wedding ceremony. After the ceremony, the trumpeters accompanied Ella and Cam back down the aisle and outside where they were greeted with a fun confetti moment.

Once outside Ella and Cam were joined by their dogs Gunnar and Gatling, so I accompanied the four of them for a little walk around the Horsley Estate to capture some great images.

Reception drinks took place with guests spilling outside to enjoy the beautiful lawn and gardens. Whilst guests happily mingled, I quickly whisked Ella and Cam away for a romantic mini photoshoot. The images I got of them in the cloisters and the chapel are amongst my favourites of the day and really showcase just how beautiful a venue Horsley Towers Estate is.

The wedding reception was held in Horsley Towers’ majestic Sopwith Suite. This elegant room has beautiful period features and is the perfect space for a wedding celebration. Toastmaster and celebrant Steve headed up the proceedings and saw that Ella and Cam arrived to rapturous applause from their guests. The speeches were very well received, especially the one given by best man and stepdad Chris.

Next Ella, Cam and their guests all enjoyed a sumptuous wedding breakfast created by the talented in-house team of chefs at Horsley Towers. I must mention the cake, it had a London Underground theme and looked amazing.

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of that cake followed by a choreographed first dance by Ella and Cam that really wowed their guests. They weren’t alone on the dancefloor for long because Ella and Cam’s guests were really up for a party and it wasn’t long before there was some serious shape cutting.

I love sparklers at weddings as they bring a bit of excitement after the sun goes down. So capturing Ella and Cam’s fun sparkler serenade was joyous. Before taking my leave, I whisked Ella and Cam outside for one last image. It was so worth it, Ella and Cam’s silhouette at the front of the venue featuring the tower looked magical. Like something out of a fairy tale and was the perfect image to close the story of their gorgeous day.

Congratulations to Ella and Cam for getting married and creating such a memorable day. I hope my images will allow you to relive it again and again for many years to come.
