Mel and Oli’s Pre Wedding shoot in Bourne Wood Farnham

As a busy Surrey Engagement Photographer, I am increasingly booked to capture engagement photography with dogs, and this was the case when I met up with Mel and Oli and their Labrador Reggie in Bourne Wood in Farnham.

Bourne Wood is a location that all three of them are familiar with.  It was a clear day and nice and quiet which made things all the easier.  My photographic style is always natural and authentic so I wanted Mel and Oli to just forget about the camera.  This approach allowed me to capture them as they actually are, interacting with each other in an effortless and natural way.   Nothing posed or forced, but as you can see, looking their absolute best!

Bourne Wood has impressive views over the surrounding pine forests and the sand soil provided a natural walking surface that gave us great access to the woodland.  The wood is no stranger to cameras as it’s frequently used as a filming location for film, television, commercials, music videos and now Mel and Oli’s engagement shoot featuring Reggie the Labrador.

I made good use of the fern that had flowered in yellow so was perfect to shoot through creating some great romantic portrait images of Mel and Oli.  Here, take a look!

I also liked the images of them in the long grasses with the atmospheric sky in the background.   Though my favourite image of the day was Reggie by the puddle with Mel and Oli behind was my favourite.  The reflection in the puddle was just perfect.  Here, take a look.

True to form, Reggie wasn’t content to just be near puddles and headed right in.  He couldn’t resist the chance to get wet and he’s foray into a large muddy puddle warranted a few images of their own.  After which, he approached us before embarking on an especially rigorous shake off ensuring we all got wet and a bit muddy!  We laughed and I forgave him instantly – after all he’d contributed to some great images.

I always recommend couples book an engagement shoot.  Engagement shoots are a great way for the two of you to get used to being photographed by me before your wedding day.  And I can give you tips and advice on how to relax in front of the camera.  It’s a chance to get any minor anxieties or concerns about being photographed out of the way before the wedding.

Dog walk engagement photography

Many of my couples go on to use the images from the engagement shoot in their wedding stationery.

I loved the time spent with Mel, Oli and Reggie shooting their Bourne Wood engagement photography.  It was so easy and laidback it just felt like meeting up with friends for a dog walk.  I think I’m looking forward to their Spring wedding at Farnham Castle just as much as they are!
