Wasing Park Military Wedding
Lakna and Matt were married at Wasing Park in mid April, with spring properly beginning to show across Berkshire. After a long stretch of wet weather, the sun finally appeared, and it shifted the feel of the whole day. The gardens were beginning to bloom, the light was clear, and there was a real sense of renewal in the air.
This was also a military wedding, something I’ve photographed many times over the years. There’s a particular rhythm to these days. A mix of tradition, structure, and strong camaraderie, balanced with family warmth and personality. Lakna and Matt’s wedding carried all of that naturally.

Morning Preparations
Preparations took place on site, which meant the day flowed without anyone needing to travel. Lakna’s morning was calm and steady, friends nearby, conversations drifting in and out, and just enough quiet moments before heading to the church.
Matt’s side had a slightly different tempo. Smart uniforms, final checks, small jokes to ease the nerves. Military weddings often carry an added sense of occasion in the morning, and this one was no different. The detail and pride in presentation sat comfortably alongside the excitement of the day.
The Ceremony And A Moment No One Expected
The ceremony took place in the church at Wasing Park, filled with close family and friends. It was traditional in structure, but personal in tone.
One of the standout moments came when the rings were needed. A groomsman jokingly suggested they had been left behind, creating a brief ripple of confusion at the front. Seconds later, Kai, Lakna and Matt’s dog, made his way forward carrying them. The tension disappeared instantly. Laughter followed, and the ceremony carried on with even more warmth than before.
Military weddings often bring moments of formality and tradition, but it’s these personal touches that give them balance.
Confetti And Garden Reception
After the ceremony, guests gathered outside for confetti in the courtyard. With the spring sun finally breaking through, Wasing Park felt open and bright. Lakna and Matt walked through a full burst of colour and noise, smiling from start to finish.
Drinks followed in the gardens. Guests spread out across the lawns, enjoying the light and the space. The Berkshire countryside setting gave everything room to breathe, and it allowed group photos to happen naturally without pulling people away for long.
Couple Portraits Around Wasing Park
Later in the afternoon, we stepped away for portraits around the grounds. Spring had started to soften the landscape, blossom appearing in pockets, fresh greens coming through. The light was clean and flattering, which gave the portraits a quiet clarity.
Lakna and Matt were completely at ease together. No over-direction, just small movements and genuine reactions. The variety of backdrops at Wasing Park makes it easy to create something different without straying far from guests.
Speeches And Evening Celebrations
The reception carried the same relaxed energy. Speeches were warm and genuinely funny, with plenty of laughter across the tables. There’s often a strong sense of camaraderie at a military wedding, and that was clear here. Shared stories, inside jokes, and a few heartfelt words that brought quieter reactions.
As evening approached, the dance floor filled quickly. The party didn’t build slowly. It started properly and stayed that way. Guests were fully involved from the first song through to the last.
Final Reflection
Lakna and Matt’s wedding at Wasing Park brought together the structure of a military wedding with the warmth of a close family celebration. Spring light, open gardens, and the Berkshire countryside gave the day a fresh feel, while personal touches, including Kai’s ring delivery, kept everything grounded and real.
