What are the best photo locations at RMAS?

When it comes to photo locations within the RMAS grounds you are spoilt for choice. It is easy to capture each location within a wedding day if you give enough time within your timeline as both you and your guests will need to be transported around the venue due to the distances between each location.

For group photos, both in front of the Royal Memorial Chapel and the Old College Steps make for perfect location for epic big group photos. The Old college steps also serves as a great backdrop for smaller group portraits and there is always a chance to get creative and have some fun with your bridal party or Guard of Honour if you have one as part of your wedding day.

For couples photos, it’s worth capturing some in front of the Old College once your guests have moved onto the reception. Furthermore, the 2 lakes are a wonderful landscape backdrop for romantic photos of the 2 of you.

Where can we celebrate our wedding ceremony?

If you wish to have your ceremony within the Royal Memorial Chapel you will need to speak to the Chaplain’s Office. It is usually advised to book this first to ensure you can secure your date.

Ceremonies can be booked for three different time slots: 1200, 1400 and 1600 which gives your great flexibility in planning your wedding day timeline.

You have to be married by a Church of England Priest however you don’t necessarily have to use one from the Chapel.

You will have an initial interview with the Chaplain of the Chapel. They will then give you all of the paperwork you are required to complete for obtaining a special license. In order to be married at RMAS you must have a special license which is £315.00 (subject to change). The costs are: £424 for civilians, WOs and Officers.

To obtain a special licence – Both you and your partner have to contact your local Church of England Parish Priests. You can find that out at the Church Near You website and key in your postcode. You will need their permission in way of a letter.

The Chaplains can be contacted on 01276 412200 and also have a website for further information.

Confetti cannot be thrown within the grounds of RMAS so something to take a note of whilst planning your day.

Alternatively, you could celebrate your wedding ceremony on many of the numerous churches or the Registry Office surrounding Royal Military Academy Sandhurst before celebrating your wedding reception back within the grounds.

What reception venues are available?

There are a couple of options if you plan to host your reception within the RMAS grounds.

The Lakeside can be booked for your reception venue between the months of May until the end of September. The Lakeside does require the addition of a privately booked marquee. You can book any Marquee company you like although it is advised to book a company who are aware of the RMAS rules. Sandhurst Marquees is a popular and trusted Marquee company.

If you prefer an indoor location or for a wedding booked during the winter months, the Old College Dining Room in Robertson House is a fantastic alternative for your reception venue however it is only available for a limited number of weekends each year.
