Hannah and Jonny Wedding at RMAS Sandhurst
Hannah and Jonny contacted me a few months before their big day on a recommendation from one of my previous couples and I was immediately excited when I heard they were getting married at the amazing RMA Sandhurst in Berkshire. RMAS is one of my favourite venues to shoot at especially as a military wedding photographer. I also had the pleasure of Darron working with me on the day as my 2nd photographer which always helps to get some extra photos and angles throughout the day.
Bridal Prep
We started the day at Berystede MacDonald Hotel where both Hannah and Jonny were getting ready. After capturing some of lovely photos of Hannah’s dress and other details we started capturing some of the fun and laughter of bridal prep. The room was constantly full of smiles, from Hannah’s bridesmaids giving gifts to Hannah including a cut out of Jonny’s face and Hannah giving a gift to her niece Clara who was her cute little flower girl for the day.
Before Jonny left to make his way to the ceremony, I quickly got some photos of him getting ready in the hotel’s lobby with his groomsman. Jonny was looking very dapper in his full No 1 dress uniform with his boots shined to a mirror shine.
For the last shots of bridal prep, I always love to capture some natural photos of the bride using some window light and Hannah looked absolutely stunning in her Sophie Grace Bridal designed dress.
The Ceremony
We then made our way to RMA Sandhurst for the ceremony taking place in the Memorial Chapel which is one of the most amazing places to celebrate a wedding in. After capturing some photos of Jonny welcoming some of their guests, Hannah arrived shortly after her Bridesmaids and was walked down the aisle by her Dad Paul. With two photographers, we were lucky to capture some lovely photos of both Hannah walking down the aisle and photos of Jonny awaiting his bride! The ceremony was absolutely fabulous with some lovely readings and a wonderful service. Upon going back outside, Hannah and Jonny’s guests were met by the Guard of Honour awaiting the Bride and Grooms’s exit.
After a big group photo outside the chapel, we made our way round to the Old College steps which is an incredible backdrop for some stylish group shots. Hannah and Jonny’s guests then made their way to the reception area whilst I stole them away for a short time to capture some romantic photos down by the lake.
The Reception
Hannah and Jonny held their reception within Robertson House where they celebrated with some canapes before cutting their cake surrounded by their guests. Their reception room had been decorated beautifully with creamy coloured flowers and after their wedding meal, some fantastic speeches followed before Hannah and Jonny celebrated their first dance together as Husband and Wife.
For the last photo of the night, I wanted to create something really unique and lit up the front of Robertson House with the colours of the Royal Army Medical Corp (which Jonny was a serving officer within) and had the couple silhouetted in the centre.
“We chose Alex to photograph our wedding in March 2019. We were absolutely delighted with all of the photographs and our wedding album was fantastic. We loved that our photos told a story of our whole day and captured some very natural moments perfectly. Alex was really good at making people feel relaxed and also managed to get some lovely formal shots. The quality of the photos was brilliant. Alex was professional and communicated with us throughout the whole process; during the initial booking, on the big day and in producing the slideshow and album. We cannot recommend Alex highly enough. Thank you Alex!”
