Katie and Brendan’s RAF Military wedding at Richmond Hill Hotel, Surrey

When Katie and Brendan first got in touch with me about their Richmond Hill Hotel wedding in Richmond, I was really excited! We met at the venue for a pre-wedding consultation and I was delighted soon after when they chose to book me to cover their day.

Bridal Prep

The day began at Katie’s house in Sunbury where the bride along with her Bridesmaids and family were getting ready. After shooting all the important details of the day and I started capturing the hair and make up prep before making way on to the church.

Ceremony

Katie and Brendan chose St Mary’s Church in Sunbury on Thames for their ceremony which was absolutely stunning for a wedding celebration. Brendan had already arrived and looked very dapper and smart in his military RAF No 2 Uniform along with his best man Stan also in Uniform. After getting some candid photos of guests arriving I made my way back outside to await the arrival of the Bride and her Bridesmaids.

A beautiful ceremony followed where I was lucky to get some stunning photos of the event from throughout the church including high up on the balcony to capture the entire space. After the ceremony Katie and Brendan walked through a fun confetti aisle before having a quick group photo beside the River Thames.

We then made our way to the Walled Gardens a short walk away for further group photos and couples photos. The Walled Gardens were a perfect setting for photos and fortunately it was quiet so had the space to ourselves. The flowers and plants especially with the autumn colours made a wonderful backdrop for photos!

The Reception

I then made a quick dash to their Reception Venue at Richmond Park Hotel where Katie and Brendan had decorated their reception room with some wonderful personalised details. After cocktail hour I captured the smiles and laughter of their reception line before they sat down for their meal.

Entertaining and fun speeches followed along with a Mr and Mrs game which was loved by all of the bride and grooms family and friends.

We were very fortunate to have a lovely sunset in the evening so I stole the Bride and Groom away for a few minutes to capture a few sunset portraits opposite the hotel on Richmond Hill overlooking the River. Katie and Brendan had decided to have a sparkler aisle in the evening which is always great fun to shoot!

The Party

After cutting the cake, Katie and Brendan had a intimate first dance before the rest of their guest joined them on the dance floor and the party really began.

“Alex photographed our wedding in November 2017. We found Alex through a wedding group on Facebook, being local to us and seeing his work, we knew it was an immediate match. Alex was truly unbelievable and I cannot recommend him enough. From the initial consultation to the day it self, he has been diligent, attentive and best of all, fun! All our guests commented on how good he was – got all our shots that we requested but we barely knew we were being photographed the whole day. We received our images in a good time frame, knowing that care and attention had been taken in every single one of them. Even the aftercare has been truly superb. I would 100% recommend him to anyone! Thanks again Alex.”
