Planning your wedding at The Ravenswood and looking for relaxed, natural photography? You’re in the right place. I’m based in Eastbourne and photograph storytelling weddings across Sussex and the South East, including The Ravenswood and other local venues.
The Ravenswood is a private manor house venue set within woodland and landscaped grounds, with everything taking place on site. You get the character of the main house, gardens close by, and outdoor ceremony options, all within a contained setting that keeps the day flowing naturally. This works well for unforced moments, easy group photos, and short portrait sessions without pulling you away from your guests. I know how the venue moves from quieter parts of the morning through to a lively evening, which helps everything feel calm and well organised.
If you’re still deciding on a photographer, you can see more of my work and approach on my Sussex Wedding Photographer page. You can also explore my portfolio and pricing, or get in touch to chat through your ideas.
I’m listed as a recommended photographer on The Ravenswood’s own supplier list, alongside the other suppliers the venue works closely with. The team know me and how I work, which means one less supplier for you to vet and a calmer day for everyone.

Searching for an Experienced Ravenswood Wedding Photographer?

I photograph weddings across Sussex and the South East with a calm, natural approach. The Ravenswood suits this style well. Everything happens within a contained setting, from morning prep through to the evening, which keeps the day moving without long gaps or unnecessary travel. The house, gardens, and grounds sit close together, so you spend more time with your guests and less time being pulled aside.
The venue has a steady flow, from the getting ready spaces in the morning, through the ceremony, and into the reception and evening. I focus on real moments as they happen, without staging or constant direction. Portrait time stays short and relaxed, and the day builds naturally into the evening celebrations. If you’d like to see how I photograph the later part of the day, you can also view my Evening Wedding Photos page.
My Relaxed Approach to Photography at The Ravenswood

You want your wedding to feel calm and unforced
My photography is built around real moments and natural movement. I keep things flowing and avoid stiff poses or long pauses. The Ravenswood suits this approach well. The manor house, woodland setting, and gardens sit close together, which allows moments to unfold without interruption. Soft light, sheltered areas, and simple backdrops mean very little direction is needed.
You want someone who knows The Ravenswood
The Ravenswood has a clear rhythm to the day, with everything taking place on site. I know how the getting ready spaces, ceremony areas, and reception rooms connect, and how to move between them quietly. I understand where the light works best, when the grounds are calmest, and how to keep things running smoothly if timings change.
You don’t want to miss out on the day
Portrait time stays short and relaxed. We usually step outside for a few quiet minutes near the house or gardens, then head straight back in. Because everything is close, you stay part of the day and do not miss the drinks, conversations, or moments with your guests.
You want photos that feel true to your day
I focus on what actually happens. Small interactions, genuine reactions, and the way the day builds from morning through to the evening. You will not feel posed or directed, but you will have a complete story of your Ravenswood wedding. I also help couples plan a simple, realistic flow to the day, which you can explore in my Wedding Day Timeline Guide.

Your Ravenswood Wedding Day, Step by Step

The Morning Buzz
I arrive early to photograph the morning as it unfolds naturally. Most couples get ready on site, using the bridal suite or the dedicated getting ready room, which keeps everything calm and unhurried. The spaces are bright and comfortable, with room for your closest people to be around you. I focus on real moments, conversations, and those quiet points just before the day begins.

The Big “I Do”
The Ravenswood’s ceremony spaces are full of fairytale charm. Whether you’re exchanging vows in the elegant Princess Beatrice Suite or saying “I do” outdoors with the gardens and lake as your backdrop, every moment feels like something out of a storybook. I capture every smile, tear, and heartfelt vow naturally and unobtrusively, so you can soak up every moment of your day.

Candid Moments of Happiness
After the ceremony, guests have space to spread out and settle into the day. This is when a lot of the natural moments happen. Hugs, laughter, and small interactions. I work around you without pulling you away, capturing the atmosphere as it builds while keeping an eye on timings and light.

Couple Portraits
Portrait time is kept short and relaxed. We usually step outside for a few calm minutes near the house or gardens, then head back in. Because everything is close together, you are never gone for long. If the light improves later, we can step out again briefly.

Group Photos
Group photos are organised and efficient. We choose a spot that works well for light and space, then work through a list quickly. Most weddings need around 15 to 25 minutes for group photos, depending on guest numbers. This keeps things moving and avoids long waits.

Dancing the Night Away
As the evening begins, the atmosphere shifts and the energy builds. The Ravenswood works well for larger celebrations, and the evening often fills quickly once music starts. I photograph the room, the movement, and the moments happening on and off the dance floor. If you would like a short set of evening portraits, we can step outside for a few minutes when it feels right.

Wondering About the Details?

What if it rains?
No worries, it happens. The Ravenswood has plenty of stunning indoor spaces with beautiful light, so we’ve got you covered. If the weather takes a turn, we’ll stay flexible with the schedule and make it work. Rain never ruins a wedding, it just adds a little extra romance to your story.
What time will you arrive on the wedding day?
I usually arrive a couple of hours before the ceremony to capture those all-important getting-ready moments. The Ravenswood’s getting ready room offers great natural light, which is perfect for documenting the excitement, details, and candid moments with your bridal party.
Can you photograph both of us getting ready if we are on site?
Yes. One of the benefits of The Ravenswood is how close everything is. If both of you are getting ready at the venue, I can usually move between spaces and capture both sides. If you want full coverage of both preparations at the same time, a second photographer can be added.
Can you help us plan the timeline for photos?
Yes. I help couples plan a timeline that fits the venue and keeps things relaxed. This includes ceremony timing, group photos, portraits, and allowing space for guests. Because everything happens on site at The Ravenswood, it is easier to keep photography efficient without rushing.
How much time do we need for couple portraits?
Most couples spend around 15 to 20 minutes in total, sometimes split into two short sessions. The gardens, house, and grounds are close together, so you do not need long walks or extended breaks. If the light improves later, we can step out again briefly.
Do you stay for the evening party?
Yes, absolutely. I photograph the full day, including the evening celebrations. The Ravenswood can host a large evening reception, and I capture the atmosphere as it builds, from the first dance through to the dance floor later on.
We feel awkward in front of the camera. Is that a problem?
No. Most couples feel this way. My approach is calm and natural, with gentle guidance when needed. You are never asked to perform or hold poses. The focus is on real moments and interactions, so you can relax and enjoy the day.
How do we book you?
You can get in touch to check availability. If I am free on your date, we can have a relaxed chat about your plans and see if my approach feels right for you. I photograph a limited number of weddings each year, so dates can book up in advance.

The Best Photo Locations at The Ravenswood
The Ravenswood offers several strong photo locations within the grounds, all close to the main house. This keeps portrait time relaxed and flexible through the day.

The Little Castle
This is the outdoor ceremony space and one of the most recognisable features at The Ravenswood. It works well for ceremonies and also for calm, intimate portraits earlier or later in the day.

The Ruins
A short walk into the surrounding woodland leads to the ruins. This area offers a quieter setting for portraits and a chance to step away briefly together. The woodland paths and natural surroundings suit natural, unforced photos.

The Secret Garden
Tucked away near the house, this area works particularly well in the evening. The lighting here makes it a good option for relaxed portraits and sparkler photos without needing to move far.

The Birdcage
Set within the lawns, the Birdcage offers a simple backdrop for relaxed portraits. It suits natural moments without needing much direction and works well throughout the day.

The Boat House
Set beside the lake, the Boat House gives you views back towards the main house and surrounding grounds. It works well for quieter portraits and has a more intimate feel, especially later in the day when the light softens.

Group Photos and Guest Moments
The lawns provide plenty of space for group photos and post-ceremony drinks. In warmer months, guests often gather here, which creates natural moments to photograph. Above the lawns, the balcony offers a useful vantage point for a wider group photo that includes all of your guests.
The Grounds and Lake
The wider grounds include open lawns, water features, and mature trees that frame the venue. These areas give plenty of space for relaxed portraits and candid moments, without needing to walk far. The mix of open space and shelter keeps things flexible.
Indoor Photo Locations
Inside the house, there are several calm spots for portraits if the weather changes. Fireplaces, staircases, and quieter corners work well for more intimate images and add variety to the final gallery.

Where can you get ready?
The Ravenswood has a dedicated Getting Ready Room designed for wedding mornings. It is spacious, comfortable, and works well for photography, with room for hair and makeup, dresses, and relaxed time with your closest people. Many couples also use onsite accommodation or Rosewood Cottage nearby, which helps keep the morning calm and unhurried.

What are the ceremony options?
The Ravenswood offers licensed indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces. Indoor options suit all seasons, while the outdoor ceremony area at the Little Castle is a popular choice in warmer months. Having both options on site makes planning straightforward if the weather changes.

What are the reception options?
Receptions take place within the main house. The Princess Beatrice Suite is used for the wedding breakfast and speeches, then transitions into the evening space. Everything happens in one place, which keeps the flow simple and avoids unnecessary movement for you and your guests.

How many guests can attend?
The Ravenswood can host up to 150 guests during the day and up to 300 guests in the evening, depending on layout and season. This makes it suitable for both medium and larger weddings.
Is exclusive use available?
Yes. Weddings at The Ravenswood are offered on an exclusive use basis, so the venue and grounds are yours for the day.
What overnight accommodation options are available?
There is onsite accommodation for you and your guests, including a honeymoon suite on the night of your wedding. Additional accommodation is available at Rosewood Cottage nearby, which many couples use the night before or for extra getting ready space.
