Military Wedding at The Plough At Leigh

Kirsten and Andrew’s wedding day started in Tonbridge with a ceremony at Tonbridge Baptist Church before everyone made their way over to The Plough at Leigh for the reception. It was the first of a double wedding weekend for me, and it was a great one to start with.

From the beginning, it felt like a proper mix of everything you’d want from a wedding. Plenty of laughter, a few emotional moments, and a group of people who were clearly all in on the day.

It was also a military wedding, with Andrew wearing his Army RAMC No.1 dress, which always adds something a bit different to the feel of the day. There’s a bit more structure, a bit more presence, but it still sat naturally alongside everything else.

Morning And Arrival At The Church

The morning had a really steady start. Nothing rushed, just people getting ready and everything gradually building.

By the time guests arrived at Tonbridge Baptist Church, there was already a good atmosphere. People catching up, finding their seats, and that quiet anticipation before things begin.

Kirsten arrived looking incredible, and Andrew, in his Army uniform, definitely didn’t go unnoticed. It all set the tone nicely before the ceremony even started.

The Ceremony At Tonbridge Baptist Church

The ceremony itself was simple and really genuine. The kind where people are properly paying attention, not just waiting for it to be over.

There were a few emotional moments, a lot of smiles, and just a really honest feel to everything. Nothing over the top, just two people clearly happy to be standing there together.

As they walked back down the aisle, you could feel that shift straight away. The formal part done, everyone ready to get outside and carry on the day.

Reception at The Plough At Leigh

After the ceremony, everyone made their way over to The Plough at Leigh for the reception. It’s a great Kent wedding venue for something more intimate, and it suited Kirsten and Andrew perfectly.

Once everyone arrived, the day opened up a bit. Drinks flowing, people spreading out, conversations picking up again. It felt relaxed straight away, which is exactly what you want at this point.

Group photos slotted into this part of the day without interrupting anything. Just pulling people in when needed and letting them head straight back to it.

Couple Portraits Around The Ground

We took some time for couple portraits around The Plough and the surrounding area, just keeping it simple and working with what was there.

Kirsten and Andrew were really easy to photograph. No overthinking it, just walking, chatting, and letting things happen naturally.

The early spring light helped as well. Not too harsh, just soft enough to keep everything clean and natural.

Speeches And The Evening

Once everyone sat down, things slowed a bit, in a good way.

The speeches were a proper mix. Funny, a few emotional bits, and a room that stayed fully engaged the whole time. You could tell how much everyone meant to each other, which always comes through in the photos.

As the evening went on, things picked up again. The band got going, people filled the space, and it turned into a really good party without needing much encouragement.

Later on, we stepped outside for a twilight photo using bubbles, which was a really nice way to finish things off. Something a bit different, and it worked perfectly with the light at that time of day.

Final Thoughts

Kirsten and Andrew’s wedding had a bit of everything. A meaningful ceremony, a relaxed reception at The Plough at Leigh, and a great group of people who made the day what it was.

The mix of a church ceremony in Tonbridge and a more intimate reception venue in Leigh worked really well, especially for a Kent wedding like this.
