Some shoots just stay with you—and Gunjan and Nehal’s stunning Mayfield Lavender Farm proposal was absolutely one of those days. A warm summer evening, endless rows of blooming lavender, and one very nervous but excited groom-to-be made for the perfect love story unfolding in real time.
Nehal had reached out to me a few weeks ahead of the big day with his plan: he was going to propose to Gunjan amongst the rolling lavender fields just outside London. The brief? Keep it quiet, blend in, and be ready to capture the moment without giving anything away. Challenge accepted.

A Secret Plan in the Lavender Fields
On the day of the proposal, Nehal texted me a quick photo of what they were wearing so I could easily spot them without raising suspicion. I arrived early, scoped out the best angles and waited patiently among the tourists and flower lovers. It wasn’t long before I spotted them walking hand in hand through the fields.
Camera ready, I hung back just enough to let the moment unfold naturally—and then, right on cue, Nehal got down on one knee. Gunjan’s reaction was everything. Genuine shock, laughter, happy tears… It was one of those storytelling moments I absolutely live to capture. I fired away from a distance, preserving every second in frame without intruding.
The Sweetest Surprise
Moments after the proposal, I introduced myself and offered my congratulations. Unbeknownst to Gunjan, some of their close friends had travelled down too and were just waiting to jump in and join the celebration. The hugs, the laughter, and that look of pure joy on her face—it was all magic.
What followed was one of the most romantic engagement shoots I’ve ever had the pleasure of capturing. The Mayfield Lavender Farm is an absolute dream for a proposal session.
