Kew Gardens Proposal Shoot

Grace and Sam proposal shoot at Kew Gardens

I love proposal shoots, what could be more exciting than being trusted to capture the moment when two people in love decide to spend the rest of their lives together?

Sam had been planning to propose to Grace for some time however due to COVID, all his ideas were scuppered. Grace had wanted to visit Kew Gardens for some time so Sam decided it would be a perfect spot to propose. He contacted me a week before very last minute and fortunately I was available.

I had to stay very covert in the leadup to the proposal, I spotted Sam and Grace early on as we arrived at the car park at the same time. I had to keep a low profile to ensure I didn’t give the game away, and spent a fair bit of time hiding in the gardens waiting for Sam and Grace to finish their picnic.

Kew Gardens is the perfect location for a proposal shoot as it has an abundance of locations that make amazing backdrops in images.  I positioned myself strategically and sure enough at the end of the picnic Sam proposed to Grace and I caught it perfectly on camera.  The images were great because Grace was really surprised and delighted so it was wonderful to capture the emotion of the moment.

I then took a few portraits at the bottom of the steps by the King William’s temple amongst the Mediterranean gardens before leaving them to explore the park fully as an engaged couple.

If you’re currently planning your proposal and are wondering if you should have it photographed feel free to get in touch.  From personal experience,I know that arranging a proposal can feel a bit nerve-wracking and daunting. It’s a defining moment in your life and of course you want to make it perfect! I am here to guide you through every step of the way.  From when you first contact me, to the planning process and on the day.

You just talk me through the kind of proposal you had in mind and then I will advise you on the best way for it to be photographed.  Whether it’s a paparazzi shot when I discretely photograph the exact moment you propose.  Or an arranged photoshoot for you and your partner where you surprise them with the proposal.  Or a family photoshoot where the two of you surprise your loved ones with news of your engagement.

After the proposal.  I do the proposal photoshoot where I take beautiful portrait images of the two of you at or close to your proposal location.  I use a documentary style of photography for this, taking unobtrusive and unposed images where your personalities and the emotion of the moment really shine through.  This authentic style of documentary photography always gives me beautiful and natural results.  As you can see from these images of Sam and Grace.

Many of my couples go on to use the images from their proposal photoshoot in their engagement.

I really enjoyed capturing Sam and Grace’s proposal shoot at Kew Gardens.  I’ll leave the last words to them, here’s what they had to say about working with me.

Alex is fantastic! I needed some last-minute help in capturing my proposal at Kew Gardens. With late notice, Alex cleared his schedule and ensured our special moment was captured. Alex went above and beyond with recommendations and suggestions. The photos came out incredibly, the angles, lighting and clarity of the images are better than i could have imagined and a professional page was put together for us to view, download and share the photos with our loved ones. If you’re looking for somebody to capture ANY special occasion then Alex is your man. Well done Alex!!!
