Spring Wedding At Farnham Castle

Chloe and Darren were married at Farnham Castle on a bright Sunday in March, with early spring just beginning to show itself across Surrey. Daffodils were out in pockets around the grounds, and although the air still carried a bit of chill, the light had shifted. It felt like the start of a new season.

It was a full day from the outset. Both sides were getting ready on site, which meant there was always something happening. I moved between rooms throughout the morning, capturing the build-up on both sides before everything gathered pace ahead of the ceremony.

Morning Preparations And A First Look

Chloe’s morning had a steady rhythm to it. Friends and family came in and out, helping where needed, keeping things light. One of the most emotional moments of the day happened before the ceremony even began, when Chloe shared a first look with her brother. It was quiet and unforced, just the two of them in a small pocket of time before everything shifted.

Darren’s side had a different energy. Laughter, final adjustments, a sense that the day was about to kick off properly. With both prep locations on site, Farnham Castle allows that flow without anyone feeling rushed.

The Ceremony In The Winchester Suite

The ceremony took place indoors in the Winchester Suite, beautifully lit and filled with close family and friends. From the first few minutes, it was clear how much this day meant to everyone in the room. There were smiles everywhere, a few tears, and that sense of anticipation that builds steadily before the vows are exchanged.

When Chloe and Darren walked back down the aisle as a married couple, the mood lifted immediately. Guests made their way outside ready for what followed.

Confetti And Courtyard Reception

At the bottom of the castle steps, confetti was waiting. It wasn’t a gentle scattering. It was a full burst. Colour, noise, movement, all of it happening at once. Chloe and Darren walked straight into it, laughing the whole way through.

Drinks and canapés followed in the courtyard, with guests spreading out across the space. Ben from Unbelievable Magic moved between groups performing close-up magic, drawing small crowds and plenty of reactions. Group photos took place during this time as well, including some backlit shots as the afternoon light softened.

Portraits In The Gardens And On The Keep

As the afternoon edged toward evening, we stepped away briefly for portraits around the gardens. The early spring colour added something subtle to the backdrop, and the light began to drop just enough for a warmer tone.

Later, we made our way up to Farnham Castle Keep for a sunset portrait. It’s one of those spots that never disappoints. Open views, a little breeze, and space to breathe for a few minutes before heading back to the party. You can see more of my work at this venue here.

Speeches, Dance Floor, And Cigar Shots

Speeches were one of the standout parts of the day. They were genuinely funny, with the kind of timing that keeps the whole room engaged. Laughter carried through the space more than once, but there were quieter, more heartfelt moments too.

The evening picked up quickly after the first dance, which ended with a well-rehearsed dip and a big reaction from the floor. From there, it didn’t slow down. Guests filled the dance floor and stayed there.

Later in the evening, we stepped outside with Darren and his groomsmen for a series of cigar portraits. Working alongside Burton Media, we created something a little different before bringing the focus back to the wider celebration.

Sparklers And A Final Twilight Moment

The day closed with a sparkler aisle, guests lining up in the dark with light flickering all around. It created a natural ending before we finished with one final twilight portrait in front of the castle. A simple frame, strong lines, and just enough light to hold the detail.

It had been a full day. The kind where you barely stop moving, but you wouldn’t want it any other way.
