Laura and Matt’s wedding at Combe Manor Barns

I always love returning to be a Combe Manor Barns wedding photographer.  Laura and Matt chose the perfect venue for their summer wedding.  Combe Manor Barns sits within the grounds of Combe Manor set in a valley of outstanding beauty in the rolling hills of the Berkshire countryside.

Making it a truly beautiful and romantic wedding venue that’s a real favourite with us Berkshire wedding photographers.  But I’ll get back to all the reasons why I love capturing wedding photography at Combe Manor Barns later.  Let’s start at the beginning of Laura and Matt’s day.

On the day, I go there early so I could catch up with Laura and her bridal party who were getting ready at Laura’s parents’ house.   Laura and her bridesmaids were on great form and there was some bubbly to help things along.  I got some great images that really captured the excitement, anticipation and sheer fun at Laura’s bridal prep.

Laura looked stunning in her elegant dress with pretty lace detailing and a fit and flare cut that gave a beautiful silhouette in all of my images.  Bridesmaids wore elegant a line navy full length dresses.

I also got the chance to catch up with Matt and his grooms party who were getting ready nearby.  They all looked very smart in full traditional Scottish attire (who doesn’t love kilts at a wedding) in a distinctive blue tartan that looked great.

The wedding ceremony was held at Tangley Church.  This pretty country church in the village of Hampshire was perfect for a summer wedding ceremony and Laura and her dad travelled there in style in a gorgeous white vintage car.

Generally, the weather was overcast on the day but annoyingly it rained just as everybody arrived at the pretty church.  This didn’t do anything to dampen anybody’s spirits, and there were lots of transparent umbrellas that allowed us all to continue undeterred.  There was also a traditional Scottish piper welcoming guests to the celebration.

After a gorgeous ceremony there was a fun confetti moment outside the church and I took my chance to get some great images of Laura, Matt and their guests before everybody headed to Combe Manor Barns for the reception.

Storytelling wedding photography at Combe Manor Barn

Now I get to talk more about all the reasons I love being a wedding photographer at Combes Manor Barns.  One reason is that the owner Sybille is always super friendly and helpful, even to Berkshire wedding photographers.  Another reason is that the venue is a blank canvas which couples can personalise to suit their personalities and the style of their wedding.  Even down to choosing their own suppliers.  When I shoot wedding photography at Combe Manor Barns, I’m always curious to see what my couples have done with it.

On arrival everybody enjoyed an elegant drinks and canapes reception provided by the caterers Vaughans Kitchen. And whilst guests happily drank and chatted, I took the wedding party outside to the pretty walled garden for some great group images.  My favourite being the one of the wedding party creeping up on my portrait image of Laura and Matt, totally taking them by surprise.  Here take a look!

I then quickly whisked Laura and Matt away for a mini photoshoot around the gardens and grounds of Combe Manor.  With the Manor House, the gardens and the rolling Berkshire countryside all making amazing backdrops in my images of them.

I then returned them to their guests in time for the wedding reception that saw them piped in to rapturous applause. The speeches were given by Laura’s dad, by Matt and by the two best men Scott and Stevie.  They were all very well received as was the delicious food supplied by caterers Vaughan’s Kitchen.

Now I want to mention the wedding cake that was made of a collection of different cheeses and served to guests after the meal.  It was perfect and seemed to go down better than traditional cake.

Evening celebrations started with a romantic first dance in the main hall, this was followed by a father and bride dance and a groom and mum dance.  All of which were a joy to capture.

Entertainment was in the form of a traditional ceilidh dance which was perfect for this lot as had the energy for some serious partying.  The ceilidh dance was tons of fun and I took my own life into my hands and got onto the dancefloor to capture some fantastic images.

A super fun and laid-back wedding at a beautiful Berkshire wedding venue for this lovely pair.  Congratulations to Laura and Matt for creating an amazing wedding day and thank you for allowing me to tell the story of it with beautiful and timeless images.  I’ll leave the last words to Laura and Matt, here’s what they had to say about working with me.

“As a pair that don’t really like having their photos taken Alex made it seem so easy. He was the most easy-going and professional vendor we had. Having to reschedule your wedding isn’t easy but Alex did everything he could to make it as smooth and easy as it could be. We love all our photos.  We would highly recommend Alex. Thank you.”
