Burley Manor Summer Wedding

Harriet and Chris were married at Burley Manor on one of the hottest days of the year, deep in the New Forest in Hampshire. September brought clear skies and intense heat, which shaped the rhythm of the day from the very beginning. Despite an unexpected delay caused by traffic around the Bournemouth Boat Show, the mood stayed calm and steady. Guests waited patiently, the ceremony began when everyone had arrived, and the day unfolded with warmth, emotion, and a strong sense of togetherness. Nothing felt thrown off course. It simply took its own time.

Morning Preparations

The morning started with relaxed bridal preparations, helped by the quiet setting and familiar faces around Harriet. There was laughter, conversation, and the kind of gentle build-up that comes when everyone knows there’s no need to rush. The heat was already noticeable, but it slowed things down in a good way. Drinks were close by, windows stayed open, and the focus stayed on comfort rather than timelines.

An Emotional Indoor Ceremony

Getting to the ceremony took longer than expected. Traffic around the coast caused delays, and Harriet and I arrived later than planned. Rather than causing stress, it brought a surprising calm. Guests had time to settle, and when the ceremony began around forty minutes later, the room felt focused and present. The ceremony took place indoors, offering some relief from the heat outside. It was emotional without being heavy, shaped by quiet moments, shared looks, and a clear connection between Harriet and Chris.

Confetti And Group Photos

After the ceremony, everyone gathered outside for confetti. The moment was full and generous, made even brighter by the afternoon sun. Group photos followed, kept light and efficient so no one spent too long standing in the heat. There was plenty of humour and movement, with people drifting back into the shade and drinks appearing quickly afterwards.

A Relaxed Afternoon In The Grounds

As the afternoon settled, the pace eased further. Guests spread out across the grounds, finding shade and space to catch up properly. Chris and a group of friends headed into the field with Belgian beers, taking advantage of the open space and the slower rhythm of the day. It felt informal and unforced, the kind of moment that happens naturally when there’s no pressure to stick to a tight schedule.

Golden Hour Portraits

As the heat finally began to soften, the light shifted in a way that made stepping away for portraits an easy decision. The New Forest setting came into its own at this point. Harriet and Chris moved comfortably together, and the session stayed quiet and unrushed. As the sun dropped, the light turned warm and low, creating one of my favourite silhouette images I’ve ever taken. It was a short window, but it gave them space together before the evening began.

Evening Celebrations

Once the sun set, the energy lifted. The dance floor filled quickly, helped by the cooler air and the sense that everyone was ready to let go after such a hot day. The party stayed lively without feeling chaotic, with guests moving easily between dancing and conversation. It was a strong finish to a day that had already given everyone plenty to remember.

Final Reflection

Harriet and Chris’s wedding at Burley Manor showed how a day can adapt without losing its shape. The heat, the delay, and the change in pace all became part of the story rather than obstacles. Set in the heart of the New Forest, the venue gave the day room to breathe, from shaded afternoons to wide-open sunset views.
