Sophie and Patricks Wedding at King’s Chapel Amersham

I always love returning to be a King’s Chapel wedding photographer.  Sophie and Patrick chose the perfect venue for their winter wedding.

Bridal Prep

Starting the day, I caught up with Sophie early on so I could get those all-important bridal preparation images.  Sophie got ready at No 40 Townhouse which is connected to King’s Chapel. A pretty period townhouse in the heart of Old Amersham, it that has all the luxury and character of a four-star hotel.  It was the perfect space for Sophie and her bridal party (Sophie’s sister Vicky, Patrick’s mum and bridesmaids Leah, Pegah and Indi) to relax before the ceremony and I got some lovely images of them getting ready.

It was clear Sophie was well organised with co-ordinated robes, bridesmaids’ favours and a little medicinal prosecco (to deal with any last-minute nerves). It was almost a shame the party had to end for the wedding to begin!

The talented Aria Hussain was on hand doing Sophie’s hair and makeup and Sophie wore a gorgeous Enzoani dress with a great cut, lace detail on the bodice and beautiful chiffon layers on the skirt that gave it a dreamlike floating fairy-tale look, not to mention a gorgeous silhouette in all of my images of her.  Sophie really suited being a bride and totally beamed all day (Brides like Sophie make the job of being a Buckinghamshire wedding photographer so much easier!)

Ceremony

Onto the ceremony and I get the chance to bang on about how much I love shooting wedding photography at King’s Chapel.  Set in the beautiful market town of Old Amersham, charming and historically rich King’s Chapel is certainly one of Buckinghamshire’s premier wedding venues.  It has lots of space inside and a really pretty courtyard garden that makes the perfect backdrop in my images.  It’s also a blank canvas allowing their couples to stamp their style and personality onto each wedding so when I return it’s always lovely to see what my couples have done with it.

Sophie and her bridal party walked the 20 metres to the ceremony (which was a treat for anybody who happened to be on the high street at the time!) I love it when brides walk to their ceremonies.  Girls, you did very well in those heels on those cobbles!

The ceremony was held King’s Chapel’s majestic Main Hall, a beautiful space that boasts an original pulpit from 1906 and a mezzanine gallery.  Everybody’s entrance was accompanied by a harpist and the bridal procession was led by the sweetest flower girl and page boy who performed their duties diligently.

After the lovely ceremony, there was a fun confetti moment before everybody enjoyed drinks and canapes reception. Whilst guests happily drank and mingled, I quickly took the wedding party outside to the pretty walled garden to get some great group shots of them before whisking Sophie and Patrick away for a romantic mini portrait session around the grounds and interiors of King’s Chapel.  This was my favourite part of the day and produced some gorgeous images.

The Reception

Next, it was time for the wedding reception which was held back in the main room and Sophie and Patrick were welcomed rapturously by their guests.  I love the details at weddings as they always tell me something about my couple’s personalities and at Sophie and Patrick’s I liked the wedding favours, the fairy lights and the wedding cake topper.  It was a master class in chic yet rustic style.  I’m going to hazard a guess here and give full credit to Sophie.

After the wedding breakfast, there were some emotional and funny speeches that went down a storm with everyone before the cutting of a pretty three-tiered wedding cake.  Evening celebrations started with a romantic first dance, followed by a sweet father-daughter dance that also saw Patrick dancing with his mum Linda.  And it wasn’t long before the dancefloor was packed.  This lot were definitely up for a party!

Before leaving I wanted to get a romantic image of Sophie and Patrick’s on the backlit balcony.  The image turned out to be my favourite of the whole day and was the perfect image to close the story of Sophie and Patrick’s wedding.

But I’ve gone on long enough!  So, I’m going to leave the last words to Sophie and Patrick.  Here’s what they had to say about working with me.

Review from the couple

‘We’d like to thank Alex so much for the amazing photos and album we received after being part of our special day. He really made every aspect from booking, to engagement shoot, & finally the big day so easy and was always there to answer any questions we had. On the day, Alex felt like part of the occasion and he is such a people’s person so really made everyone feel at ease, especially when it came to pictures while we were getting ready. He took beautiful photos of the whole of our day and even got the little details that we may have forgotten. He put every effort into getting the best photos for us and we couldn’t be happier. He made such an impression that my sister has booked him for her upcoming wedding!
