Astridge Wood Pre-Wedding Shoot

Astridge Wood Pre-Wedding Shoot

Alice and Ryan’s pre wedding shoot at Astridge Wood

I always love doing pre wedding and engagement photography in Gloucestershire as the county has so much beautiful countryside for me to choose from.

I met up with Alice and Ryan on a sunny Saturday in June for their pre-wedding shoot at Astridge Wood.  This pair had originally wanted to do the shoot in a rapeseed field but due to COVID restrictions this wasn’t possible.

We opted for Astridge Wood instead and never looked back.  Astridge Wood is in the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley area that has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.  Its beautiful woods and wilflower meadows made the perfect setting for a romantic pre wedding shoot.

Pre-wedding photography is increasing in popularity.  Some couples choose to have an pre-wedding shoot as they often say that they feel uncomfortable being photographed or that they never like pictures of themselves.  A pre-wedding shoot is an opportunity to fix all of these worries.  So that it won’t be an issue on their wedding day.  It’s a chance for them to get used to me photographing them and if they need it, I can give them tips to help them to be more comfortable in front of the camera.

Beautiful Astridge Wood Pre-wedding Shoot

Alice and Ryan were fantastic to work with, they were so easy going, fun and comfortable with me and each other and this resulted in some amazing images.  And the natural flora and fauna of the woods gave me a constant supply of perfect backdrops in my images.

I always opt for a natural unposed look of a couple just out for a walk enjoying one another’s company.  As Alice and Ryan were so at ease it allowed me to capture natural images of them looking their absolute best.  The result were gorgeous images that I know they are thrilled with.

The yellow buttercup field gave me a great idea for a drone shot of Alice and Ryan lying down, I took a few of them by the buttercups, so although they didn’t get a rapeseed field, yellow did feature heavily in their pre wedding shoot.

I was very fortunate to win a Wedisson Award recently for this drone shot-my first drone photo award!

Gloucestershire Pre-wedding and Engagement Photography

As the sunset, I got a fantastic image of Ryan standing behind Alice embracing her.  It was my favourite image of the day.  Here, take a look!

Sunset images are always romantic as the low light always creates a soft focus that is perfect for pre-wedding and engagement photography.  Us Gloucestershire wedding photographers are total geeks when it comes to talking about light!

Seeing how good these images are has made me excited to see just how good their wedding photos will be.  Alice and Ryan are getting married at Milling Barn in Buntingford in March 2022.  I think I’m looking forward to it nearly as much as they are!

If you’re planning your wedding and would like to invest in a pre-wedding photoshoot then feel free to get in touch.

I’d love to talk to you about how we can work together to create beautiful and timeless images of you and your partner.
